Constantinople is a captivating solitaire historical wargame that delves into the millennium-long saga of the Byzantine Empire, commencing from the establishment of Constantinople in AD 330 up until the fateful year of AD 1453 when the empire met its demise. Players are tasked with navigating this turbulent period, utilizing military prowess, diplomatic finesse, and strategic bribery to withstand relentless opposition. Will you be able to surpass the grandeur of the historic Byzantine empire, or will your endeavors fade into obscurity within the annals of history?

While Constantinople does not offer an intricate, meticulously precise reenactment of Byzantine history, it incorporates authentic historical foundations to provide players with a genuine portrayal of the empire's challenges and triumphs over its existence. Through gameplay, it imparts a nuanced understanding of Constantinople and the broader context of the Byzantine Empire.

The application is optimized for iPhone but offers a playable experience on iPad as well.

The original board game design was crafted by Steve Ashing (<a href="https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/89972/steve-ashing">source</a>), while the evocative board game art was masterfully created by Ilya Kudriashov (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/ilya_kudriashov/">source</a>). The melodious backdrop features "The Descent" by Kevin MacLeod from incomptech.com, licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 (<a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/">source</a>). It's worth noting that the app has been developed with authorization from the original game designer and graphic artist.
